Representing the industry
The NZPMA is involved in a number of associations and organisations, both nationally and internationally, developing contacts so we can advocate and support the industry when required.
World Coatings Council (WCC)
For over three decades, the World Coatings Council (previously called IPPIC) has worked to improve communication and coordinate policy on matters of international concern to the paint and printing inks industry. The council provides a forum for exchange and cooperation on major issues and priorities facing the industry and has established itself as a global voice for the industry.
Representation within WCC consists of Europe, America, and Asia amongst others.
In 2005 IPPIC was granted NGO status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council and will highlight international industry issues to the UN and its governing body. In 2019, the name of the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC) was changed to the World Coatings Council.
Membership to this council is extremely beneficial to the NZPMA as we interact closely with member associations around the world.
Australian Paint Manufacturers Federation (APMF)
The APMF or Australian Paint Manufacturers’ Federation is our sister association in Australia, and being a much larger operation with full-time employed staff, has access to a larger number of forums than the NZPMA. They are also part of the World Coatings Council.
There are a large number of closely aligned issues on both sides of the Tasman, and indeed many of our members have representation within both Organisations.
Business NZ Affiliated Industries Group (AIG)
The Affiliated Industries Group (AIG) is made up of over 60 national industry associations together comprising tens of thousands of enterprises.
The AIG meets regularly in Wellington and Auckland, sharing information and strategy directions on issues common to business in New Zealand and gaining the benefit of BusinessNZ’s advocacy work on behalf of all business.
Surface Coatings Association of New Zealand (SCANZ)
SCANZ is the professional body of individuals involved in the surface coatings industry.
While the NZPMA works to grow and support the industry, SCANZ works to grow and support the people within the industry, so the two organisations are different sides of the same coin. The NZPMA supports SCANZ by supplying speakers to the annual conference.
New Zealand Construction Industry Council
NZCIC – the cohesive voice driving industry well-being and performance for a better built environment for New Zealand.
Our approach is to collaborate across member organisations to find a place where we can agree on the best way forward for New Zealand’s built environment — keeping our key principles in mind. The NZCIC provides a forum for debate, dialogue and dissemination of cross-sectoral issues, challenges and opportunities in the New Zealand built environment.
